2002 Traphagen Classical Guitar Brazilian Rosewood Cedar Top Nice Sound for sale in Pisgah Forest, NC
Dake Traphagen 2002 Cedar top and Brazilian Rosewood Classical GuitarA wonderful 2002 Cedar top and Brazilian Rosewood side & back classical guitar made by Dake Traphagen that he gave the name: "Esplandorosa." It sounds as expected of Traphagen's masterpieces: The sound is full, basses big, trebles bright, and middle range clear. It has plenty of volume across the range, with warmth and roundedness to the tone, as well. It plays beautifully, with action on the low side of normal--in my opinion. It's also made of stunningly beautiful woods. The Brazilian Rosewood back is particularly beautiful. It's a fine instrument all around that has volume, while still keeping that beautiful Spanish sound expected of fine classical guitars. All of these features distinguish Traphagen's guitars, and in this case they combine to make this one remarkable instrument, one perfect for an advanced student looking for a very nice handmade instrument at a moderate price. These days Traphagen's Brazilian Rosewood instruments go for $8000+.Specs:Back and sides: Brazilian Rosewood (gorgeous!)Top: Cedar25 13/16" (65.50mm) scale from nut to saddle2 1/16" (5.2 mm) nutMade in 2002French polish. Includes case. Condition: This guitar is in very good condition for 20 years old. The back does have a very old grain crack repair that has remained stable for years. As you probably know, these kinds of grain cracks are not unusual with Brazilian Rosewood, especially highly figured wood like that used on this guitar. There are quite a few nail marks on the top. Most of them are light, especially those around the edge. The nail marks under the strings are a little more numerous. The most noticeable sign of use are the string marks behind the bridge. I bought the guitar with these marks without really knowing how they came about. I supposed that a previous owner pushed new strings through the bridge holes without taking care that the strings didn't dig into the surface. Please see the pictures. I can provide more upon request. Notwithstanding these top imperfections, I could not resist the sound of the guitar and have not regretted for a minute purchasing it. So if you don't mind some minor wear this guitar provides the volume, tone, and playability expected of a high performing Brazilian Rosewood Traphagen guitar. I think it can hold its own with guitars-including Traphagen's new guitars-listed for thousands more. As it is, It's a kind of diamond in the rough.Because of regulations on shipping Brazilian rosewood, the guitar ships only to addresses in the US.So here's a chance to grab one of Traphagen's creations at a reasonable price. Please feel free to ask any questions. Why am I selling such a fine instrument? Because I have way, way too many guitars. They are filling up my house. I've been collecting fine classical guitars for years. I've now retired from the hunt and am starting to sell off my treasures.
